Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It appears that at last something is being done to clean up the cemetery. Following is a notice I received from The Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania:

Established in 1855, Mount Moriah Cemetery was the chosen resting place for Philadelphia mayors, Civil War soldiers, and other notable historic figures. Accessible by trolley and intersected by Cobbs Creek Park, Mount Moriah was once a grand and peaceful retreat. In recent years, however, the cemetery has fallen into disrepair.

We're excited to announce that the Friends of Mt. Moriah has organized a volunteer clean up date for the cemetery for Saturday, July 16 from 8 am to 1 pm, and GSP will be assisting. To participate with the GSP group, please email your first and last name, phone number and email address to Emily Shaw at emily.shaw@genpa.org. We'll register you for the event and email you additional details, including where to meet.
